Technical information
The right process starts with the documents for the exact product. Use this checklist to prepare for coating and ask precise questions.
There is no single temperature, time, thickness or storage specification for all powder coatings. INVER document values cannot be applied to an IBA product merely because the colour or application is similar.
TDS, SDS and certificates have different roles
The TDS describes the product’s application and processing. The SDS covers hazards and safe use. A certificate covers only its defined product, system or organisational scope; it replaces neither document.
Heat-resistant filler before powder coating
INVER polyester metal filler sold by Aniversa for levelling surface defects in steel components before powder coating.
About INVERSTUK METAL SN-96 fillerCheck product identity first
Match the manufacturer, exact product code, batch number and document revision to the packaging. A RAL code identifies colour, not coating chemistry, resistance or curing conditions. Resolve discrepancies before production.
Substrate and pretreatment
Consider the metal, surface condition and service environment. Match cleaning, chemical or mechanical pretreatment and drying to the substrate and coating system. Coating does not compensate for unsuitable preparation.
Application and film thickness
Use the application method and thickness range permitted by the TDS. Measure with a suitable, checked gauge. Too little or too much film can affect appearance and properties; the amount sprayed is not a thickness measurement.
Curing: workpiece temperature matters
Interpret the TDS time–temperature combination using its defined workpiece or metal temperature. Oven-air readings and total oven residence time are not equivalent. Check the actual temperature profile for parts with different thermal masses.
Storage and batch traceability
Check storage conditions and shelf life on the packaging and TDS. Protect powder from moisture, contamination and unsuitable temperatures. Do not mix unidentified residues or different products; retain batch records and a control sample.
