Matching RAL and NCS colours
Find the closest match, not an assumed identical colour. Always compare the candidate with the project’s physical reference.
An old table headed “NCS exact” is not a guarantee of exact equivalence. Different ΔE methods and measurement conditions cannot be treated as interchangeable numbers.
Current NCS+ limitation
The official NCS+ help page reviewed on 20 October 2026 states that RAL conversions are currently unavailable. Its Pro tool describes matching RGB, HEX, Lab and CMYK values to the closest NCS colour. Check the latest feature status before use.
Start with a reliable reference
Compare the original RAL reference with physical NCS samples under agreed lighting. For digital closest-match assessment, use properly measured or legitimately obtained authoritative colour values, not HEX values from this catalogue’s approximate previews.
Approval before production
Send the original and proposed codes, substrate, gloss and service environment. Approve the final choice using a physical coated sample. Finding a match does not establish coating availability or performance.
