Describe the coating’s service environment

Enquire about outdoor coatings
Sunlight and weather exposure
Specify the location and intended use. A RAL reference alone does not establish resistance to colour or gloss changes; check the selected series’ intended use and technical information.
Substrate and coating system
Steel, galvanized steel and aluminium require consideration of different pretreatment. Discuss the complete system, including a primer if required. A topcoat does not replace suitable surface preparation.
Project documentation
If a QUALICOAT, GSB or other approval is required, send the project specification. Check certificate validity and scope against the specific series and coating system.
Colour, finish and quantity
Alongside the exposure, provide the RAL reference, gloss, texture and quantity. Agree the colour using a physical sample; pricing and supply are confirmed for the specific product.

Are all powder coatings suitable outdoors?
No. Outdoor use must be specified for the particular product. The substrate, exposure, preparation and complete coating process matter when selecting it.
Can the same service life be promised for every application?
No. A general coating category cannot establish service life. Consider the specific product documentation, substrate preparation, service environment and maintenance.
